Mr Gnome's mushrooms pattern


As this is a free pattern, pattern is for personal use only and may not be sold, photocopied or copied electronically or distributed in any way.  Please don't sell the toy you've made, and please provide credit for the design to myself (Knitterbees).




Materials:
1.       8 ply weight wool or acrylic. 
2.       3.25mm  40cm  circular needles/ 3.25 DPN or size needed to obtain gauge. 
3.       Stitch marker
4.       Yarn needle
5.       polyester stuffing

Gauge: not important

Colours for Mushroom:
MC – green
CC1   - White

Big Mushroom:
With the circular needle cast on 8 stitches (MC).  Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker on the first stitch.
Row 1-15(CC1): knit
Row 16(CC1): kfb every sts
Row 17(CC1): knit
Row 18(CC1): (kfb , k1) Repeat  to the end of the round.
Row 19(CC1): knit
Row 20(CC1): (kfb , k2) Repeat  to the end of the round.
Row 21(CC1): knit
Change to RED yarn
Row 22(MC): knit
Row 23(MC): purl
Row 24-29(MC): knit
Row 30(MC): (k2tog, k2) Repeat to the end of the round.
Row 31(MC): knit.  Insert stuffing before hole gets too small
Row 32(MC): (k2tog, k1) Repeat to the end of the round.
Row 33(MC): knit
Row 34(MC): k1(k2tog) Repeat  to the end of the round.
Break yarn and thread tail through remaining stitches, pull to inside of cap and weave in end.

Small Mushroom:
With the circular needle cast on 8 stitches (MC).  Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker on the first stitch.
Row 1-30(CC1): knit
Row 31(CC1): kfb every sts
Row 32(CC1): knit
Row 33(CC1): (kfb , k1) Repeat  to the end of the round.
Row 34(CC1): knit
Change to RED yarn
Row 35(MC): knit
Row 36(MC): purl
Row 37-41(MC): knit.  Insert stuffing before hole gets too small
Row 42(MC): (k2tog, k2) Repeat to the end of the round.
Row 43(MC): knit
Row 32(MC): k1, (k2tog, k1) Repeat to the end of the round, k1
Break yarn and thread tail through remaining stitches, pull to inside of cap and weave in end.
