Toddler boy neckwarmer

First knitting project after having Thomas.  After 2 years of non stop nappy changing and running around like a headless chicken i finally had the courage to pick up my knitting needles and knit.  Best feeling ever.  Winter is coming here in NZ so wanted to knit a scarf for Tom for our playground trips.  I must say its hard to design a scarf for boys when you don't want the extra length to get caught while they are running around but also something that will stay on their neck while also looking great.  So I've come up with something simple that will go with most outfits and also practical for my active toddler.

Materials:
1.      8 ply weight wool or acrylic.
2.      4mm needles
3.      Yarn needle

Instructions
Cast on 28 stitches
Row 1-4: k27, sl
Row 5: k5, bo2, k14, bo2,k4, sl (I used medium size buttons so if you are using bigger or smaller buttons simply bind off less or more as require)
Row 6: k5, co2, k14, co2, k4,sl (i used medium size buttons so if you are using bigger or smaller buttons simply  cast on less or more as require)
Row 7-: k27,sl  (Knit to desire length (I needed till I reached 350mm)) bo.

Happy knitting

At 30% and looking good and very happy! Pictures still don’t do justice.  The colors are awesome.  Richard is not going to be happy if I decided to keep the scarf for myself..... :)

Dr Who's scarf

Ever since my bf wanted me to knit him a Dr Who's scarf, I've been looking for the different colour wools that is similar to the original scarf. But choosing the right colours have been difficult and the length of the scarf have been holding me back from starting the project and being a 'not' Dr Who's fan didn't help either. I've got 2 half priced vouchers from http://www.skeinz.com and I thought this will be a great project to use up these vouchers.
The lady from the shop was really helpful and helped me pick up the colours that was very similar to the scarf which saves me from looking in the shop for hours.  The wools just arrived this morning and I'm really happy with the colours. I'll be going on a cruise with my family before this xmas and would be a great time for me to just lay in the sun and knit.

I've found the pattern from http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com/season12.php .  I know...they have a whole website dedicated to the scarf.... how crazy is that.!!!

Rib.Richi Scarf

finally finished..........

The scarf was designed for my lovely boyfriend.  Took me several tries and a few different yarns before I was happy with it.  It's very chunky and extra long for his 6ft2 height. Great for going to work or those extra cold nights.

Started back in April, and after 3 different yarns and 3 different patterns, its finally finished yesterday night.  With the finishing touches, I've designed a logo base on the first alphabet of our names and hand sew it on to a white felt and hand sew directly on to the scarf.

Yarn - Patons, Inca
Needles- 5.5mm

Instructions:
Cast on 36 stitches
Row 1: k
Row 2: k
Row 3: Work 2x2 ribbing across the row, beginning with K3 and ending with K3. Turn.
Row 4: Continue ribbing by working stitches as they appear, beginning with P3 and ending with P3.
Repeat the last two rows until scarf is desired length.
Knit last 2 rows and bind off.
Weave in ends.
Put it on and enjoy!!
